Danger of trichinellosis from eating pork has been drastically reduced by improved farming practices.

As far as enjoyment, I think there are so many better apple varieties than there used to be when it was mostly macintosh-style, delicious or granny smiths.

Next we can expect a resurgence of Trichinosis (trichinellosis) from pork. Then a bird flu pandemic.

The primary danger of eating bear meat is contracting trichinellosis (trichinosis), a severe disease caused by the microscopic roundworm parasite Trichinella.

#RFKjr is a stupid fucking prick who will kill millions of people with his dangerous and nonscientific drivel. Do NOT listen to this man. He has ZERO formal education on health and has a brain worm because he ate a black bear and contracted trichinellosis. He's a psycho. Listen to him at your peril.

Trichinellosis is fairly rare these days, in case anyone was wondering. I'm not cooking a pork chop to death.

These old book "Secrets of Meat Curing & Sausage Making" (B. Heller & Co., Chicago, various editions) had a lovingly drawn illustration of the parasite, to sell "Freeze-Em Pickle."

Cook bear thoroughly...

It's not generally eaten here except in times of scarcity. Historically bear grease was used to discourage mosquitos. Not exactly repellent. Fly paper on your skin. The smell was extra. Before DEET repellents. Consider: Alaska highway construction.
Family members in U.S. infected with muscle worms after eating undercooked Sask. bear meat | CBC News
Many people who shared a meal of bear meat, harvested from northern Saskatchewan, at a family gathering in South Dakota were infected with trichinellosis, according to a new report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Experts say it’s a common occurrence in wild meat.

The Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) is what let the public and treating doctors know about the rising "let's eat a Tide pod" trend. Also, that you need to cook bear meat to at least medium.

Trump is halting this vital report.

My only note on the RFK story is that you really should not eat bear: "In July 2022, a hospitalized patient with suspected trichinellosis was reported... patient and 8 other persons shared a meal that included bear meat [] grilled and served rare with vegetables that had been cooked with the meat."
