7 Acres of winter forage finished prepping, planing and now let the rains come to start the process. Brassica (royal purple turnips), Daikon driller radishes, Oats, Winter Wheat, Clover, Peas, radishes, triticale, hairy vetch, alfalfa all mixed together plus 14 varieties of clover for nitrogen.

Everyone should do it once. Twice is boring. Do the loop. Alaska highway up, stewart cassiar down, or vice versa. When I was a kid, farmers I knew grew wheat, rye and triticale, but I don't know what they grow now.

Such a fantastic exploration of Frey Ranch farm and distillery outside Fallon, NV. It’s probably the most integrated farm and distillery I’ve ever seen.

Such a fantastic exploration of Frey Ranch farm and distillery outside Fallon, NV. It’s probably the most integrated farm and distillery I’ve ever seen.

Auf den Mutterkorngehalt im Getreide achten
In der Getreideernte 2026 ist in Hessen teilweise ein erhöhtes Auftreten von Mutterkorn festzustellen. Betroffen sind neben Roggen und Triticale auch einzelne Weizenbestände und -partien. Die Witterung während der Getreideblüte war zwar vielfach durch Trockenheit geprägt und damit zunächst wenig infektionsgünstig. Gleichzeitig führten die teilweise lang anhaltenden und uneinheitlichen Blühphasen dazu, dass sich das Infektionsfenster deutlich verlängern konnte. Dr. Thorsten Kranz, Bernd Grünhaupt und Christine Hirschfeld vom Landesbetrieb Landwirtschaft Hessen haben sich mit dem Thema befasst.
