This Sonchus is MUCH happier now than the height of summer. They really do prefer indirect sun.

Great to find @mrplantaholic.bsky.social here! His is a fabulous book for planning your own jungle in a variety of spaces, with different takes on the theme, with lots of pics of Mike Clifford's wonderful collection. Coffee table and reference! #dwachelslibrary #tropicalgardeninguk #tropicalwales

Canna Cleopatra. I suddenly have lots! Needed to rearrange and make space for my Butia. I've seen plugs selling for a tenner. I have quite big ones! If anyone in the Carmarthenshire area is after some, give me a shout! #Canna #cannacleopatra #tropicalwales #🌱🇬🇧 #dwachelsgarden

Kept this #coleus #solenostemon going for a few years before it died. It was gorgeous. Used it all over the garden. I've not found one as red since #dwachelsgarden #tropicalwales

I know Brassaiopsis dumicola is pretty tough, but was still scared to leave to the elements in a pot. It's now pushing out 6 leaves in the living room, central heating be damned! #Brassaiopsis #tropicalwales

A recommendation for the UK gardening library if you're keen to select the right #bamboo. A comprehensive guide! Expensive right now, so stick it in your wish list and check back 😁 #dwachelsgarden #exoticgardeninguk #tropicalwales #dwachelslibrary

Musa yunnanensis growth since the stormy weather. Faired much better at the north side of the house than the south. Will be it's first winter outside. Might drag into the shed if it gets very cold.. #dwachelsgarden #bananasuk #tropicalwales #musayunnanensis

The amount of growth that Dahlia imperialis puts on from a tuber each season is incredible! Hopefully the season will be long enough for blooming! Had to hack back so our Abracadabra rose had some breathing space 😄

Glad it's not cold. Finding it difficult to feel motivated whilst sitting in the greenhouse listening to the rain.... #winterising #tropicalwales

My beloved #brassaiopsis! The bodinieri is not as tough as the dumicola, so I'm going to have o bring it inside for this winter, at least. #tropicalwales

A wee demo of how important position is. Furcraea palmentieri in the back garden, despite being under cover, are a bit mushy. The one at the front, south-facing, is actively growing! Mushies are now in respite care.

7 months of varying between cold and hot and i have 12 germinated #sabalminor sprouts. Baggy method. Great for limited space in winter. They've been cold until recently. But the heat mat woke them up #dwachelsgarden #palms #tropicalwales

Musa yunnanensis, 2nd year from a plug. Bit ripped up from the winds, but it's really taken off now, and has several pups. It suffered a bit on the south-facing front drive. So i brought it to the back of the house, and it's doing really well in shade! #musayunnanensis #musa #bananas #tropicalwales

Serenoa repens - silver saw palmetto. Our winters are long and dark in comparison with where they're from. But I'm hopeful that they might survive in a south-facing bed with good drainage, next to the house. I can but try! #palm #welshtropicalgardening ##tropicalwales #serenoa
