This is what it means to follow the general rule of show don't tell. We're just meant to assume that Troubleshoes hated the idea, even though nopony ever showed that clowns are looked down upon.
It's such a shame, as the moral of "glass half full" is by no means terrible on its own!

But yet again this requires so many assumptions and leaps in logic. Why would being a Rodeo Clown be considered shameful?

Appleoosa's Most Wanted is pretty bad, but not offensively so to any degree. As far as miscommunication stories go, it's easy to see how Troubleshoes' pessimism and general clumsiness could lead to ponies thinking the worst of him.
But a good concept does not a good episode make.
