Panoramic shots from the trig point at the top of Twmpa (aka Lord Hereford’s Knob) this morning - views of the Wye Valley, Black Mountains and Hay Bluff (my favourite run is along this ridge then up and down Twmpa - for later this week).

My first painting from my trip to the common land around Hay Bluff on Wednesday. I started painting this on with clouds on a blue sky, by the time I’d finished the clouds had filled in.

8”x6” oil on board

Was just watching An American Werewolf in London again and now recognise the junction our two intrepid hikers are dropped off at before heading down to the Slaughtered Lamb.

Lunchtime pint to decompress after a morning's work. The Brecon Tap has a new beer on, brewed at Hay-on-Wye and named after a local landmark. I took great pleasure in introducing the barmaid (a Yorkshire lass) to the name by which we knew it when we were a group of innuendo-obsessed schoolboys.

Yesterday's walk at the foot of the Black Mountains/Y Mynyddoedd Duon. The mountain in the background is Lord Hereford's Knob. The Welsh, being less inclined to flights of fancy relating to English nobles' genitalia, call it Twmpa, 'a mound'. 😀

You avoided Lord Hereford’s Knob (Twmpa) though.

Starting the final year of my 20s as I mean to continue: skulking around various Welsh churches and up Welsh hills/mountains (though sadly I had to abort my planned Twmpa/Hay Bluff hike as the cloud came down).

1: St Martin, Cwmyoy,
2: Llanthony Priory
3: St Mary the Virgin, Capel-y-Ffin

Well worth a visit, before continuing on to Hay on Wye via Gospel Pass and Twmpa.

Lovely area.

Four days actually.. ( I had 5).. day1: Black mountains: Twmpa and Rhos Dirion. 2: Fforest fawr: Fan Fach and surroundings. Day3.. wet ..so an 8 mile low level bimble near the visitor centre in the fog. Day4: home.. so short "run" up Ysgyrid fawr..the first time I've done that and had a view. Great!

Here's a lengthy review of a super fancy bike in laminated ash. From spending 30 min in this rabbit hole my take is that it seems wood/bamboo is a relevant option if, you are running a bike that you kiss goodnight and wipe with a soft cloth after each ride.
