University of Vienna Demonstrates First In-Orbit Operation of a Programmable Quantum Photonic Processor - Quantum Computing Report
A research team from the University of Vienna and VCQ has successfully demonstrated the first in-orbit operation of a programmable quantum photonic processor on a nanosatellite. This achievement transitions spaceborne quantum hardware from communication to active, on-board edge quantum processing. The system performed two-photon quantum interference and programmable matrix execution, proving the viability of quantum machine learning for tasks like onboard satellite image analysis and data reduction.

When two electrons interact, they exchange a virtual photon. "Virtual" means that it can't be detected, so it's kind of free to do weird quantum stuff in between. To understand the interaction fully, you have to add up the effects of all possible behaviors.
