my fault for suggesting you use the official route suggested by the ublue devs (rolling a custom image with an empty /nix folder) to get nix installed I will never listen to the ublue devs again

PC gaming on a Linux distro with good gaming support (like UBlue Bazzite or smth) is the way to go. Although i'd future-proof and go with a distro that won't implement built-in "age verification".

my GNOME install has turned evil - which is weird cause it's bazzite - and now i keep experiencing this bug:

if you want the most slop free and pain free setup just install silverblue and rebase to the ublue main image (which is just silverblue with sane defaults) github.com/ublue-os/main

I'm shopping for Linux distros to try out because my Fedora 41 install shit tjhe bed again. Preferably Fedora-based, i've heard good things about immutable distros like Bluefin/uBlue but I dont know how good the dev experience is on them and i hate containers for production

I think eventually some sort of distroless solution could be cool longterm
but a ublue-like Fedora bootc image with just enough flash to attract a crowd (quickshell, niri) and a ton of built in dev bullshit and vibe aesthetics could be interesting…

Over break we worked on getting ublue images onto artifacthub.io - and we've updated our tooling and templates so that anyone building a bootc-enabled image can be listed right next to the pros:

This revelation was inevitable. Those leaving ublue/bluesky/bluefin are just the latest in a long line of devs that have left the FOSS gaming development community in some part because of him. Just to name a few I worked closely with: Ruineka (ChimeraOS), fewt (SteamFork/JELOS), fluke (Asus Linux).
