A lot of bad things that happened to Mega Man at the time were understandable but also poor timing:
-X was planned for UMvC but was cut due to lack of time (the game was being developed during the 2011 tsunami in Japan)
-Bad Box Art Mega Man in SFxTK was more so a fun gag and not a "spit at fans".
