My elderly mother bounced back like a champion and is already back at her aged care home.
The toughness of women of her generation is something to behold. Genuinely tough. Uncomplaining, strong of mind, even when their bodies are failing.
I stand in awe of all of them.

Oh, and my mother survived emergency surgery that came with less than ideal odds.

Not just making a black man president, but the fact that making a black man president didn't "end racism" & cause black people to become duly grateful & uncomplaining. A lot of folks clearly felt like Obama exercising the rights & prerogatives of any other president was intolerable arrogance

I've lived in the NYC metro area for 65 of my 70 years surrounded by and working with people from every corner of the Earth. I have never had a single serious problem with an immigrant of any description, and I've always found them to be hardworking, uncomplaining, and family oriented.
