I would recommend the Undub version you can find online. It has the Japanese audio but english subtitles.

I setup the 3ds version of abyss with the undub just to get the skits, and while I'm still pretty fond of that dub cast the JP clears by a smidge. Luke is even more of a brat, which I didn't feel was possible.

Hell this patch should even work on an actual PS2 as well. All of it is messing around with Shadow Hearts Covenant's internal scripting to load Directors cut only content. Hell there's even an UnDub version. AND a SINGLE disk version that patches out the disk swap check.

I was thinking the same thing! like, an optional patch just for fun, just cause.
(tho ofc featuring ALL of them would only work with the undub bc of this line only existing in JP. but I only play with the undub so that fact wouldn't bother me personally)

dont know why it took me so long to switch over to japanese for belmonts curse. i did pog upon immediately realizing leons seiyuu came back since i played lament undub earlier in the year. makes me more bummed they didnt get the same guy back for EN hto

Not sure if it can be patched to a rom but there's the undub mod for x4 in the legacy collection

Yeah like I didn't expect Eternia but given what I played of the PSP undub, I'm happy it's getting so much effort. It's what gives me hope for a fresh Hearts R script pass

And vast majority of them not even properly supporting PAL50 optimizations. It's why I exclusively stick to NTSC releases except for a few select PAL titles that supported 60hz (Project Zero 1-3 PAL being the best because of the undub subtitles for example).

i really love the remake honestly, but outside of translation itself and bugs its also just of that era where it removed all the voice acting in battle and didn’t replace it with any english, and removed all the lyrics from songs, etc so it’s the kinda thing that needs a retranslation + undub ig

The English dub isn't good if you wanna take the story seriously. I recommend the PSP undub.

I just feel like whether you want to add jokes to your "undub romhack" you gotta go through one Working Design game and figure out what makes those stick than just copying what the dub of ghost stories.

or more focus on the mons in battle, the victory animation is just assorted camera angles of the protag, like, she didn't do shit I wanna see my mons do their victory pose animations instead.
