That is exactly how our DiGS work started (chumbyte.github.io/DiGS-Site/). We ended up constraining the divergence to get things much smoother.

ive been defining the geometric transformation ive been studying in terms of the oriented blowup but it is much more geometrically native to the unoriented one, i think

and it's the unoriented thom class which means spectra for sure idiomatically say "i may not know up from down but i know this sphere: ..." or something like that

i am not a detail oriented person. an an artist i am somehow also not a visually oriented person. i live a completely unoriented existence

Yes provided we're speaking of 1. linear transformations acting on a 2. (real or complex) vector space 3. equipped with an inner product. (2 and 3 could be combined into "real/complex inner product space" since "length" and "angle" are part of the context).

IIRC, angle/length here are unoriented :)

#DCM naturally leads to unoriented patterns—spots, labyrinths—similar to Turing-like systems.

But biological tissues often require oriented patterns to fulfill specific functions.

Can DCM produce stripes, too?

I'm actually not convinced of that either, but it also was on reflection not that relevant to the question of whether EM can be defined on an unoriented manifold. If it couldn't, we could still imagine that it manifests in some kind of domain wall that's just far away from us

differential forms and giving incorrect statements like not being able to integrate on an unoriented manifold, which is fair cause thats basically how things are taught for beginners but totally useless if yknow thats what you need to know

A “plane unit distance graph” (or abusively, just “unit distance graph”) is just a finite set P of points in the plane, which we turn into a(n unoriented) graph by declaring p,q∈P to be connected by an edge iff the distance between them is (exactly) 1. •2/16

physics "depends on" orientation. why should J go to -J? if we believe the world unoriented:

▪︎ Is it good enough to have available both +/-J, so that we can choose either [spurious] orientation and still go on to model any happenings? or

▪︎ Should we find out how to avoid orientations at any step

i don't tend to like flight sims because they're either too crunchy and require being able to operate unoriented or they assume you're already really good at them

On Thompson knot theory and conjugacy classes of Thompson's group $F$
Jones introduced a method to produce unoriented links from elements of the Thompson's group $F$, and proved that any link can be produced by this construction. In this paper, we attempt to investigate...

My 5 yo made a board game where you move a "slug" through a maze based on what arrow you draw out of a pile.
He just figured out the flaw in using an unoriented arrow drawn from a pile and is trying to figure out the solution

Suddenly remembered that science fiction author H.G. Wells actually wrote in his biography, in essence, "sure, I was a little gay as a young man, but who isn't?"

But the type I closed strings have Ω=+1. So, open strings must also have Ω=+1 for consistent interactions (as mentioned before, Ω=+1 is the only eigenvalue that gives consistent interactions). So, the open strings are also unoriented.

Now, we introduce the concept of being unoriented. When we do normal string theory, we choose to parameterize the worldsheet with parameters, and at some time slice, the parameter along the string increases in one direction. So, the string has an orientation. 7/24
