Nobody does this for other religions. People do not generally rummage through the hadiths or the Upanishads looking for teachings that discredit Islam or Hinduism. Even the most virulent Islamophobes generally confine themselves to the Quran.

Oh, and I'm a big fan of the Madhyamaka and Yogacara philosophical systems in Buddhism and of the Upanishads (as a contemplative's manual). I wish I could've told my younger self about them😂.

To be honest, it felt more like what might happen to William James’s theory of the self if his brother played upon it with large doses of indeterminacy than the Schopenhauerian sleight of hand by which the Upanishads elide a singular perspective into an unwitnessed universality

Hinduism has had multiple 'Reformations', the Upanishads and the one under the Raj both count as equal transformations in equally sweeping levels. Buddhism has also had its own history, the surviving three schools are more complex than people tend to accept if they know they exist.
The same is true of religion and culture. Confucianism has gone through numerous revolutions since its founding, including an almost wholesale rewrite under Zhu Xi. Hinduism today is as like the Vedic tradition as a modern evangelical church is like Second Temple Judaism.
