This, in 1989

(USLP had begun nerfing the party platform to suck up to the religious right by the mid-1990s and should be regarded as a suspect organization beyond that point)

I can only really complain about not explicitly coming out for open borders, which was in the platform for most of the LP's history:

the key's in USLP. they're going to sell d1 expansion slots for dimes compared to MLS & call it a bargain to unsuspecting investors, while getting prepped to pull the ripcord and sell out when the expansion fee income dries up.

what's after for clubs? pray there's no one else with territory rights.
As USL plans major infrastructural increases, I wonder about the upside for club owners.

There's not real rev sharing in USL. Expansion fees stay at USL HQ. Clubs pay yearly dues to USL HQ. Even when teams do turn a (very rare) profit, 49% of that goes to USL HQ.

Interesting times ahead.
Officially Official (like you didn't know already).

The #USL has announced USL Premier as the official name of its Division One men’s professional league and unveiled a new structure for its men’s pathway.

I've seen more and more people worried about the environment and how polluting X or Y material can be, but don't question why that product is so cheap to begging with.

The latest USL CBA has 12 month contracts and that covers USLC and USLP (I think?). Presumably the next USL1 CBA will include the same thing, because I don't see how you could (from the USL1 side) do some type of promotion tournament without 11 month contracts, and at that point.

I feel like sustainability is always on my mind as a fan of a USL club lol. In all seriousness, the last time ownership gambled and took us a level higher we massively boosted attendance. If they choose to go the USLP route all I can really do is hope they’ve investigated the cost-benefit ratio. 😅

I actually do believe it too, if the biggest teams were in it. I'm not sure that it does it for USL alone. But if USLP is (in essence) our new D2 league and that raises the level of the next best mens league under MLS materially, I'd be pretty psyched about that.

I don’t think all MLS teams should participate in USOC. I don’t think all USLC, USLL1, and even future USLP should participate in USOC. If amateurs have to work their way through qualification to get into the cup,so should pro teams (one could have a “pro cup” whose best teams qualify for USOC f.e.)
👀 Sources: MLS is fully returning to the U.S. Open Cup.

All 27 U.S.-based MLS teams will participate in a revamped version of the country's longest-running soccer competition 🏆

I guess I’m just wondering how much they’ll actually compete for the domestic player beyond what they do today. I’m sure there will be an increase of some kind. I’m just a bit skeptical that they’ll really be opening up the checkbook in USLP. Perhaps they will.

I’m warily hopeful for USL Premier, but how much of a bidding war do we imagine will really occur? I’m thinking it will be far more isolated and that USLP roster spends will probably only raise a bit from USLC (maybe we see some $3M-$5M spending).

My pessimism comes from the Hounds historic posture to roster building. Also being involved in local soccer for around a decade. They get relegated, how many fans take the " i cant go back to uslc from uslp", just like players/parents do the "i cant go back to rec/travel/classic" when cut from...
