we did go to uzumasa and that was really fun. i will give kyoto that. the set buildings were cool and my mom and i got pulled into a gambling demo and tripled our fake money and took pictures with the dice rolling lady

Uzumasa Kyoto Village (太秦映画村) is re-opening later this month!
Formerly Toei Kyoto Studio Park, this Edo-period theme park was once known as Japan’s Hollywood. Lots of samurai films were shot here!
Apparently there’s going to be more immersive experiences too. Looking forward to it!

Went to Kōryū-ji in Uzumasa today, to see their Miroku bosatsu - the bodhisattva of the future that was highly revered by aristocrats in ancient Japan, exemplifying a linear morphology of time that is often denied for non-Western/pre-modern societies.

Yokai take over Toei Kyoto Studio Park from September 12 to November 29. Dance along with the Hyakki Yagyo (a night parade of one hundred demons), plus ghost storytelling, mask painting, a mononoke market, and creatures lurking all over the park.
