Housing costs will never level off until they regulate corporate rental companies who keep buying up single family homes & never putting them on the market. Same with ABnB & Vacasa. Migrants & interest have nothing to do with housing costs. Corporate America is why we can't have affordable things.

Not for nothing but don’t use Vacasa. Just don’t. You’ve been warned. They’ll cancel on you and you won’t know. Or they’ll tell you the property is no longer under them and give you options that don’t match your needs and cost more. I’m telling you.

Never used AirBNB but had good experiences with VRBO. Also, there are many alternatives including Homestay, Sonder, Vacasa, HomeToGo, Hipcamp, and Blueground.

i try not to use these platforms, i really do. I always extensively look for hotels first. and Tokyo is the only place I’ve found where a hotel is less than double the cost of an airbnb/vrbo/vacasa that also gets me a kitchen and a more walkable non-CBD neighborhood, even after all the bullshit fees
