Baderon taught Thane pretty early, to the point where he is actually better than Bras at reading someone's dogshit handwriting.
Unfortunately, it's partly because Thane's handwriting is often Worse.

Maybe not the whole backstory but i did rewrite most of what i had for him! Changed the timing and cause of Brassert's death to the first Zenos duel instead of a hunt mark gone Very wrong pre-ARR.
