Gewone fluweelpootjes (Flammulina velutipes) zijn herkenbaar aan hun oranjegele hoeden en groepsgewijze groei op hout. Ze verschijnen vaak in de herfst en winter, wanneer andere soorten zeldzamer worden. De soort wordt ook commercieel gekweekt, vaak onder de naam Enokitake.

A handsome cluster of velvet shanks - Flammulina velutipes. It has a fibrous, velvety stalk and bright orange cap which can be slimy after rain. Cold weather fruiting mushroom and yummy.
