I’m not an apologist for Big AI; burn them down & salt the earth. But a bunch of algorithms aren’t the problem — they have their uses. (Far narrower than are being asserted, obviously.) The issue is venture-backed companies run by fascists, as always. Facebook enabled a genocide without needing AI.

OpenAI and Anthropic are not real companies — they are freeloaders living on venture-backed welfare for an indeterminate amount of time because the entire tech industry has agreed to rally around the world’s most unprofitable software. It's a disgrace.

OpenAI estimated that its Cursor partnership was worth more than $1 billion a year in revenue and cut it off anyway. The revenue concentration risk for these companies is massive, and AI labs are clearly dependent on venture backed AI startups for large chunks of revenue.
