Andreas Vesalius. I would ask him about his travels, what were the obstacles he faced in correcting the then dogma around human anatomy and what was it like dealing with royalty!

I feel like @biorender.bsky.social naming their AI agent Leo (after Leonardo di Vinci, maybe?) is a missed opportunity. I guess if I were making an AI agent used for drawing biological things, maybe Santiago or Ramon (after Cajal) would have been more appropriate? Or Andreas? (for Vesalius?)

Get ready for World Anatomy Day, Oct 15: a joint initiative of the IFAA and national Anatomical Societies. In 2019 the IFAA General Assembly set World Anatomy Day as October 15th each year: the anniversary of the death of Andreas Vesalius (father of modern anatomy) in 1564 (Julian, Oct 25 now).

I know nobody has spare cash these days, but still, the amount of artistic and creative talent available for hire is stunning. All these people? With the voices of angels and the line control of Vesalius? Available for MERE DOLLARBUCKS?

Twenty-three years old, med degree on Tuesday, professor of surgery on Wednesday. To overturn thirteen centuries of anatomical dogma, he needed bodies — and Renaissance Padua was not handing them out. Meet Andreas Vesalius, gentleman ghoul.

I did! I wrote the catalog essay and put together the sale description. The extra twist is that it’s true nature had been lost until a nice Canadian guy bought it at auction (as an incomplete 2nd ed) and he figured it out with the help of a Vesalius scholar! www.christies.com/en/stories/v...

lovely thread. Reminds me of the annotated 2nd edition of Vesalius which its owner eventually recognized had been annotated by Vesalius himself, in preparation for a planned 3rd edition he never finished.

Gabriel Fallopius (d. 1562) was a brilliant anatomist who significantly advanced our knowledge of the human body, including the inner ear, building upon the Renaissance anatomical tradition established by figures like Vesalius. #ScienceHistory

Evolocumab and Cardiovascular Events in Patients With Diabetes Without Known Significant Atherosclerosis
To the Editor To me, the principal unanswered question raised by the Effect of Evolocumab in Patients at High Cardiovascular Risk Without Prior Myocardial Infarction or Stroke (VESALIUS-CV) trial is whether that trial supports use of proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibition...
