The screenshot is being used while testing how much more visual detail and complexity can be added to the Vex models while keeping them compatible with VexBreed and VexFusion, systems that need to combine and reconstruct traits from different creatures.

This is one of the parts of Vexalia most directly inspired by Jade Cocoon: two creatures go into the forge, one comes out, and you never fully control what it inherits.

Side-by-side comparison of an old and new voxel character model from Vexalia. Although the hand redesign is a clear improvement, comparing the two full models revealed other proportion and modelling issues, leading to the decision to rebuild more of the character rather than only replacing the hands.
