Given how awful his prison conditions are and the fact that he’s spent so much of his sentence in “punitive confinement,” Alexey Navalny is one hardcore mofo to smile so much when he videoconferences in for the latest kangaroo court to extend his incarceration.

This makes me f'ing mad. I wanted flying cars, paperless office, 4 day work week.

Lets make you 3d in videoconferences might rank about 5,313,286 on my priority list.

Google partnered with UK schools to force AI down teachers' throats, and a pedagogical revolution ensued! Teachers used AI to:

-- Create email templates
-- Take notes in videoconferences
-- Create a poster for the school musical
-- Create an image of a monkey roller skating

What a joke.

Four years ago there were sirens 24x7, hospitals were renting emergency refrigerator trucks, and I was watching people outside my window extract corpses from neighboring buildings while I took videoconferences from my bedroom.

The Covid memory hole is very real.

AI "companions" are sending stalker vibes. I didn't ask for AI to answer my questions, manage my videoconferences, correct my speech - but it does. And I can't figure out how to make it go away.

You were great in some early Covid Q and A during all employee videoconferences at a company I worked. 🙏

These Kremlin videoconferences are usually just a lot of "Russia strictly follows moral guidelines laid down from our forefathers over the centuries while liberal models are being relentlessly imposed upon us by the West".

I'm paraphrasing here but this is more or less the message repeated always.

I've definitely been on videoconferences and listened to talks (while paying attention or event taking notes) while I leave music playing in the background on my headset. And for myself, I don't think it's my verbal IQ being higher - I think it's more the ADHD-motivated stimulus seeking.

When I tried to talk to my boss about medical accommodations,

(which should have been easy, I primarily worked with folks in other countries so I was on videoconferences all the time anyway)

he said: “well, it’s endemic now. We’re all gonna get it anyway.”

Sitting at my desk, I happened to glance at the calendar and see that I turn 44 a week from today. I am not ready.

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep

WFH was a godsend. But with the mandated RTO, not only am I literally commuting to videoconferences, we’ve been driven to purchase a second vehicle for commuting because the bus routes between where I live and my office have managed to get worse.

Not just movies and TeeVee.

Zoom, Teams, and similar videoconferences have normalized crappy microphones and echo off bare walls. The few participants who pay attention often ask for repeats because others sound so terrible.

when orgs like Win With Black Women and Answer the Call held their record- and Zoom-breaking videoconferences last week, I kept wondering: how *do* you invite and keep up to 100,000 attendees in one room, anyway? so I spoke to the organizers to find out! slate.com/technology/2...
