A really interesting paper just came out in Science a few weeks ago: https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.adv9472

The authors compared satellite measurements of #lightpollution from #viirs_dnb to 2.6 million bird calls recorded at 7,824 locations […]

Reminder: my #lps25 talk is tomorrow - literally the last talk of the conference.

But I promise it's going to be entertaining and you'll leave on a high note! Here's a sneak peak...

#RemoteSensing #lightpollution #aotearoa #newzealand #viirs_dnb #suominpp #night
Text says Aotearoa (New Zealand) by starlight and airglow. 7 years cloud-free, moon-free data from VIIRS DNB. Equivalent exposure ~1s. Processing by Helga Kuechly. Image shows a satellite view of Aotearoa at night with no clouds. The cities are shining brightly, and you can clearly make out the albedo differences at the land-water boundary, as well as the bright reflection from glaciers.

I was really honored to give a talk (remotely) at NASA Goddard today! Thanks for the invitation, and I hope we'll stay in touch!

Why do my rasters display a higher Max value than what is actually in the Raster? ArcPro
I created a raster of Night time Light Radiance VIIRS_DNB for my province. When I look at the brightest cells, it seems like 1632 is the maximum value in the raster. However, when I check the symbology for the raster, it shows a max value of over 2000. a) is there a way to find this outlier value specifically in the raster so I can confirm if its an actual maximum value? b) and if not, does anyone know why it shows such a higher number than what is actually seen in the raster? Is it something to do with it calculating statistics/building pyramids when I first move the raster into my Table of Contents? I am working on ArcPro version 3.3.0
