Atlantic flyingfish increase swim speed to about 19mph and use those large pectoral fins to catch air currents to provide lift. They can glide about 10-40 over the ocean.

Several brown boobies were diving for and successfully feeding on Atlantic flyingfish.

The bow wake seemed to mimic a predator as it disturbed, pushed, or signaled the flyingfish to launch out of the ocean and fly.
