Today GR Civil protection puts half the country (Attica, Viotia & Evia, Cyclades, Crete) in Code Red of wildfire danger for Sunday 16 Aug 2026.
Full mobilisation and rightly so.
But how does the daily risk map reach municipalities? How are decisions actually made?

Copernicus EMS: satellite to map in 24h. That problem is basically solved and it's incredible.
What I'm trying to solve is a much smaller and much dumber: making sure that map reaches the right screen before the fire does, instead of dying in a PDF in someone's inbox

Van de geredde dieren zijn er inmiddels 131 weer herenigd met hun eigenaar, 91 verblijven nog bij opvanggezinnen in afwachting van adoptie
282 dieren gered tijdens bosbrand in West-Attica
Tijdens de verwoestende natuurbranden van vorige week in Porto Germeno en Attica-Viotia zijn 282 dieren gered. Dat heeft de gemeente Megara bekend gemaakt. Het ging om 222 huisdieren, 46 boerderijdieren en 14 wilde dieren. De geredde dieren werden opgevangen in het gemeentelijke stadion, dat diende als centraal punt voor registratie, het verlenen van veterinaire zorg en het regelen van (tijdelijke) huisvesting.
