He knows a bit more Greek and Hebrew than typical for a nobleman of his time.
And he's 5'0.75" in 1660, and! excitingly! probably 5'1" by the end of 1661.

I was always told it was because prior keyboard instruments like harpsichords, virginals, clavichords had no capacity to vary volume by the way you struck the keys, so being able to do so was a BFD.
