An AI designed custom viruses to attack an antibiotic-resistant infection. Doctors administered them to a human patient.

The lab says the viruses killed the bacteria in a patient sample. Whether they helped the patient remains unknown.

I wrote about it.

Excited (of course) to share our new paper: RNA viruses can exploit self-cleaving ribozymes for translation initiation.
RNA viruses can exploit self-cleaving ribozymes for translation initiation
Abstract. Small self-cleaving ribozymes are catalytic RNAs discovered in viroid-like agents, which are replicating circular RNAs (circRNAs) postulated as r

Researchers identify a group of previously unknown viruses that bridge an evolutionary gap between viruses and cellular protein compartments

These viruses and cellular compartments (called encapsulins) evolved from one another repeatedly over millions of years

Newly discovered viruses reveal an evolutionary missing link
Using AI-powered tools and vast DNA databases, University of Miami researchers identified previously unknown viruses that offer new clues about the origins of life.

Long story short, despite the last name of Norton, they were full of viruses.

PS: Antibiotics cleared most of them up.

Can anyone recommend a good review on the evolutionary origins of viruses that I could use as a lecture reference?

New furry multiplayer game built around fighting computer viruses!?

…oh, the viruses are just random 2D icons :(

I do not want them compiled into a public drive and shared.

Not even including concerns such as AI scraping, viruses, re-uploading, etc., I have a deep distrust and fear of fics breaking containment.

Why do some people get sicker from viruses than others?

Scientists are studying how the physical properties of our cells, including how stiff or flexible they are, may affect how easily viruses infect them.

See, with viruses, the species is... like... it's like a thing where the DNA is like... wham, and it's right on the money, every time, without fail. You know?

Anyway, that's my book report on species in viruses.

Dear god, you just refuse to understand how viruses and vaccines work.

Every unvaccinated person is vulnerable. They were protected because the rest of the country wasn't batshit crazy about vaccines.

It's not about CAUSING it; it's about catching and spreading the most contagious virus.
