#hwa6 #voiceandattention a chose i made that shaped sme 2 and 3 definitely was the choice of "showing but not telling". for example, there was negative capability intended for the audience for sme 3. I wanted to keep them on their toes waiting for the next fast paced scenes aside from the coffee.

I drew images to visualize what was happening, but they were abstract to encourage the audience to imagine the scene themselves with their negative capability.

it’s wild how messing with sound can make people experience emotion instead of just noticing it. the “how” really can be way more powerful than the “what.” #hwa6 #voiceandattention

My choice was to interrupt GPT whenever the sentence felt “normal” to me and I didn't want that. Part Three explains how formal choices can reorient attention and that the break does exactly that. #hwa6 #voiceandattention

In SME2 I put a lot of background noise. Talking, static, writing sounds. All that! Certain sounds required attention to each layer of sound (what stopped playing, when, and why) other times it was much more obvious. (morse code playing) Also, I have said ++ #hwa6 #voiceandattention

that my voice gets higher when addressing people I should respect. There were a few moments of negative capability. The entire edit is an uncertain phone call. Full of doubt. In this way, the altered audio becomes a question. If the phone call is uncertain, ++ #hwa6 #voiceandattention

#hwa6 #voiceandattention one specific choice I made that shaped the kind of attention my price required in SME 2 would be the choice to elongate the “s” sound in the word tasted within the sound piece, which added a textural layer without actually distorting it audio wise with the garage band app

Cause like... part of my audio was written in the past and part in the present. Smth like that. The same person talking about the same situation in different points of their life time. I guess I was trying to bring attention to how differently I feel now?

For my monologue, I chose an answer that made a reference to my own work, and I included that referenced excerpt in the background as a whisper. For me that was my way of being honest with myself as someone who is now on the outside of the situation looking back in

when editing the prompt for sme3, i asked gpt to add another person that we technically me into the writing, to confuse me with myself. this seems similar to the book we read and how the author takes away that "I". I did this without having any expectations of what would be- #hwa6 #voiceandattention

#hwa6 #voiceandattention sometimes I’ll make my voice sound concerned or worried to convey the feeling of being nervous

#hwa6 #voiceandattention Adding the audio and spacing out where it’s placed was what made my video pop. having someone talk and narrate added that first person voice, rooted in spectacle.

Any pieces with silence that allowed me to guide the audience to hone in on particular details were somewhat disorienting as I think stagnant silence can feel weird. Perhaps negative capability is relevant as I don't provide a reason or support for understanding the choice #hwa6 #voiceandattention

A piece of media can recondition the terms of attention itself. This made me realize my formal choices matter just as much as the objects themselves.

#hwa6 #voiceandattention dynamic positioning of voice and personhood in DLMBL. This voice is meant to distort, to muddy, to unrefine.

A specific decision I made in SME No. 3 was to create a stark contrast in imagery in my first and second half of my silent film. Learning about negative capability helped me realize that the ability to create contraction without resolution plays a big role in the film. #hwa6 #voiceandattention

#hwa6 #voiceandattention I used a lot of effects and reverb in my SME 2 to make my second voice seem panicked and like my character's thoughts. I now realize disorientation was my method. The voice that emerged from that environment was panicked and inside Jessica's head.

#hwa6 #voiceandattention Distortion as a method! I wanted the listener to feel transported from inside the text of Voice 1 to around and through it

In the second half of SME #2, I added a subtle music background that mirrored the story I was telling. At the end, I turned the static up until my voice nearly disappeared. I wasn’t just narrating, I was trying to shape exactly how the story was experienced. #hwa6 #voiceandattention

One formal choice I made in SME 3 was repetition. The same camera angle & procedure for every object I tested. The repetition taught the audience how to watch the film. Viewers paid attention to small differences rather than waiting for a dramatic event. #hwa6 #voiceandattention

In my SME No. 3. I decided to have strict rules with pauses in between my cuts. It's very similar to the idea about DLMBL mentioned in #hwa6. It's not just telling a story. In my case, it's more so teaching a lesson. #voiceandattention

#hwa6 #voiceandattention i feel like my choice to distort the voice 2 in SME2 into one that is heard distantly, muffled, as though heard beneath the surface of water, directs the listener's attention to the wider sensory experience instead of just the plain words of Voice 1. Much like the-

In SME NO.3, I filmed a micro shot where the yellow bird is fanning himself by a leaf vividly.
Next, I use a footage showing a distance view of my room.
That is, I sit in front of the chair, and this bird is merely placed on the corner of my table, seeming to be lifeless.

In SME No. 2, I added a full-breath pause after the fastest part of Voice Two. It makes the listener stop before the coffee returns. Part three’s idea of negative capability helped me see why the pause matters as it asks the listener to stay with uncertainty for a moment.

A specific choice I made in SME No3. was zooming in on the materials and fabrics and keeping what they actually are a secret. This is negative capability; there is no resolution to what the materials are, and each of them contradicts the ones that come before. #hwa6 #voiceandattention
