Heinkel He-162A Volksjäger under conservation at #IWMDuxford. On the detached wing in the foreground you can see both a German Balkenkreuz marking, and a Royal Air Force roundel, applied after the aircraft was captured.

You know what also had glue? The wings on this wooden jet fighter the nazis tested for a while (went as well as you'd expect lol) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinkel...

For example, may I remind you of THIS joke of a fighter jet. It was made of wood, the engine was horribly inefficient, it didn't carry enough fuel because it was too small, and the ejection seat tended to kill pilots (y'know, being RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE INTAKE).

Effective, yes. Decisive, no. As a mechanism of prosecuting a total war, it is definitely one of them. Given the casualties involved I can't say it was the most manpower-efficient, but as a black hole of strategic resource demand it was hard to beat.
