Volvo 480 designer John de Vries, who sadly passed away 2 years ago, once told me the car had to look good from every angle. The 480's interior was designed by Peter Horbury, who later became design chief of Volvo and took those "shoulders" as Volvo design language in the S60, V70 and S80.
