Oh I know how this song goes! Black and brown kids go to VoTech at best, girls go to HS tracked to two-year secretarial or care degrees, white boys get college prep.

No - not trade jobs. It’s a huge problem that we got rid of so many trade schools & offering votech in public schools.

my biggest problem with the public high school that I went to is that in 9th grade they took us on a tour of the VoTech school and was like, "here's all the different things you could learn, culinary arts, auto mechanic, HVAC repair" and I said "Shit yeah sign me up for all of them!"

“doing the work” needs to be hands on. i have always lived in the nyc area, so my perspective is very regional and city-minded - but people here look down upon vocational studies (votech was where the “bad kids” went). this needs to stop!

VoTech was a great thing we had shop classes starting in 7th grade we learned drafting casting machining wood working...

I was a highschool drop out with a GED a votech school drop out and I still have more brains then all these people.
Not to mention more compassion, humanity and honesty then them any Maga politician or their voters.

Letzten Freitag fand in Bern eines der gut erprobten Rituale der direkten Demokratie statt: Kisten über Kisten mit Unterschriften wurden an die Bundeskanzlei überreicht, diesmal von den Kompass-Initiant:innen.

Vor der neusten SVP-Initiative kann nur gewarnt werden: Sie will das Asylsystem zerstören und Arbeiter:innen entrechten, zielt auf die Kündigung der Bilateralen und der Europäischen Menschenrechtskonvention. Nächste Woche kommt sie ins Parlament.
