Pining for turkey and stuffing, I settled for containers and VMs instead. In the process, I've offered some advice on better use of RouterOS in containerlab.

We use vrnetlab in @containerlab.dev to build iol, but it is not a VM. It is a binary in a container. So it is a container, we just used vrnetlab as a placeholder for the make script

Hmm. Playing with #vrnetlab and decided to redeploy the @mikrotik.social CHR using an Alpine base rather than the default Ubuntu base. Container weighs in at just over 200MB rather than close to a GB and spins up much faster. More tuning of these VM containers is definitely in the cards. #NetEng

We've made some good progress in fixing the biggest caveat in vrnetlab - using fake (and same) mgmt IP for every node.
Now we've added support for the transparent management interface for the following systems.

However, it still needs to be built using VRNetLab. Which is effectively VMs (thank you to the VRNetLab team for building VRNetLab) inside of Docker. Would be awesome to get the Docker native images first though.
