#vsync
Very rarely, I have found a few games in my time that do not actually support a 59.94 vsync or a 60.00 vsync. They support one or the other.
So basically, depending on your monitor, a game could potentially randomly drop frames due to its vsync not being primed to your monitor. Funny.

This is the second (perhaps 3rd?) time in the last few years that the Nvidia Driver has broken vsync so that it continuously stutters. It is like a game thinks it should be applying reflex frame limiting to a game with vsync (vsync only works with VRR).

A GAME WHERE VSYNC IS DETECTED AND ALREADY ON? BLUE PRINCE IS MY GOTY!

what if we kissed during the vsync interrupt...

Because performance is a hot topic right now, here's a fun fact: Some consoles don't allow you to release a game without vsync.

Vsync prevents screen tearing but, if it could be turned off, a lot of your favorite games would likely run A LOT better!

Indeed this is exactly what I see with Vsync on when Hardware Accellerated GPU Scheduellin gis on.
This is GTA V Enhanced in scene where I have 100+ fps with good frametimes without vsync. With vsync on look at that graph! Nvidia needs to fix this.

JYUNYA : It's like "The laser color changes, is this a feature or Vsync error?" In the end, we recreated the bugs that we fixed.
ZUN : Oh, the laser thing isn't a bug.
JYUNYA : But it disappears if you change Vsync.
ZUN : Hardware issue.
JYUNYA : Tell me that a month earlier!

enable Vsync by default

In case you are wondering "why do you need Vsync?" - it is because DF records its videos at a flawless 60 hz so that people can enjoy it on Youtube without tearing or screen judder from a variable frame-rate being put into a 60 hz container. When vsync does not work, I literally cannot do my job.

...I just pushed an update that removes the 60fps limit, and also exposes VSYNC as a setting you can enable/disable based on preference.

When you forget to add a wait for vsync in your video playback code...

no vsync, horrid screen tearing

It's been showing me the settings button off to one side almost the entire time, greyed out and unclickable

i'm losing my mind

UPDATE: We came up with a solution!!! A vSync setting that enables Unity's built-in vSync feature in a way that allows us to still achieve 30fps and 60fps. Because of the system's limitations, it'll only work for displays with refresh rates of 60hz and 120hz.

when i’m faded my irl refresh rate go 50.00Hz (vsync off)
May 10, 2026 at 1:47 AM
exactly. Vsync add latency to do that, VRR does not.

Wemino released his new MarperPatch for Dead Space 2, a brand new patch that fixes all the known shortcomings PC version.

It fixes the physics issues at high framerates, mouse acceleration, vsync locking the game to 30fps and the crashes on multi-core PCs.

love too run kitsune tails on my old potato 2012 laptop and have it still run at almost 400 fps with vsync off

lil game goes vroom
April 18, 2025 at 6:00 PM
well, i guess all the game needs are fullscreen and vsync options! i went as far as to add a sharp bilinear-like filter so the scaling is nice and shimmering-free too

and yes, there's controller support as well! it feels pretty nice to play

release is coming tomorrow

The situation with Nvidia Drivers right now is a cluster fack. Something pushed in the back end, and now I cannot run Vsync in games without a massive stutter every second. Only fix is turning of Hardware Accelerated GPU Schedueling. It completely ruined my afternoon work trying to figure out why.
March 13, 2025 at 2:34 PM
we're making a handful of big changes to the game internally again, so expect another v3.1.0 preview build at some point to test those alongside trying to troubleshoot an issue with the new vsync setting
