As part of the "Malua" Timber Sale, WADNR intends to clearcut forests with stand origin ages as far back as 1885. 130 year old legacy forest!

Also, they have the gall to list road construction in an otherwise roadless area as a "public benefit". 😡🙄

The magnificent, complex beauty of a legacy forest is a treat for the eyes even in the midst of its winter slumber.

The legacy forest pictured here is at imminent risk of being clearcut by WADNR as part of the "Carrot" timber sale.

Send comments to WADNR by noon today to stop clearcut logging of legacy forests on our #PublicLands: wadnr.commentinput.com?id=Trb5Sx2kfN

The following timber sales contain legacy forests, and must be stopped:

Schmidt Creek Sorts
Baby Rattle
Q Atomic
Only Ferns
Kingfisher VRH VDT

If you live in WA, you can find evacuation maps! dnr.wa.gov/washington-g...

But I think this tweet covers the main points to remember.

When the Forest Service, BLM, or WADNR uses the word "restoration", what they actually mean is "pillaging".

I'm exploring another legacy forest today. The Washington Board of Natural Resources will vote tomorrow on whether or not to destroy this and many other irreplaceable legacy forests.

WADNR is rushing to clearcut as much as they can while CPL Hilary Franz is still in office.

The WADNR is planning an enormous clearcutting operation in the Toutle Mountains, on steep slopes right up to the boundary with the Mt. St. Helens Wildlife Area.

The forest in question would actually benefit from some thinning, but @wadnr.bsky.social plans to just hack it all down. 😡

Now here's a WADNR employee spewing timber industry propaganda. 🤬

Today marks 1 year exactly since I abandoned the @johndurst19.x.com account and I have never made a better decision for my #MentalHealth than to #QuitTwitter.

A lone giant towering into the fog amidst what was until recently a legacy forest.

WADNR wants us to think that they don't do clearcutting just because they leave a couple trees here and there while hacking down dozens or even hundreds of acres around them.

$160,000

That's all Washington State University profited from logging this 100-year-old forest in Mason County in this WADNR timber sale.

This was done despite a pending appeal by LFDC.

We shouldn't be funding universities by clearcutting #PublicLands

Yep, and yet we have WADNR telling us that building logging roads in previously roadless areas is a "public benefit" of their plan to clearcut 130 year old forests on state lands. 😡

A brisk walk in the woods.

It was a frigid morning, with frosty trails.

And despite how beautiful it was, we saw barely anyone.

"hazardous fuel conditions" and root rot are being used by WADNR to justify clearcuts as "forest health treatments". This is deeply dishonest propaganda. @daveupthegrovecpl.bsky.social @wadnr.bsky.social

Sophia Sherman (Speaker #8) makes a great point; WADNR is not abiding by its own silvicultural guidelines.

Raging River State Forest has every right to be angry, given how badly WADNR has abused it.

#Boise2MankeRoadPrescribedBurn New prescribed fire is being reported by WaDNR Northeast of Dewatto. The fire is 11 acres and unknown in containment. The fire may cause smoke near the area, especially around NE Dewatto Hollywood Rd. If this is the case, use caution.

I just found out that Cowlitz County used to have a 1000 acre state park full of giant lowland old growth rainforest, but loggers used the 1962 Columbus Day windstorm as an excuse to clearcut most of the Barnes State Park, which was then closed and later transfered to WADNR.
