All awesome!

A day on Waiheke Island is lovely, the Te Papa Mueseum has fantastic exhibits, and check out the PieFee in Auckland.

Savory pie is everywhere and delicious.

Since you're in Auckland, I recommend catching a ferry from downtown to Waiheke Island (30 mins away.) There are lots of nice restaurants and galleries over there, but my personal favourite is Casita Miro.

I can only guess they were limited edition toys, which is why they weren't allowed out of their packaging. Love ya, Waiheke weirdos. Never change.

Wild times over on Waiheke in late September
Man steals bus - but TAKES UNSUSPECTING PASSENGERS WHERE THEY WANT TO GO. Also, sex toys nicked “still in their packaging”. I love Waiheke police reports

I laughed when I saw these two posts adjacent to each other on the #kikorangi feed ...

Thanks for the chuckle @jenster.bsky.social and @dilaedathon.bsky.social

Yeah I had seen the same - something that happened over on Waiheke with the people defending the blue penguin nesting ground that he turned up to acting in a really suss way.
I don't like the sound of it tbh.

The only(?) defence I can think of is trying to hit him where it hurts - his vanity. His Waiheke Everyman-blokishness .

However vacuous.

He's not a businessman, he's a corporate suit.

Nonono you've got it all wrong, WE need to focus on the basics, like surviving paycheque to paycheque, so that HE can focus on the luxuries, like 5-figure watches and Waiheke mansion rate cuts.

I was slightly put out yesterday because today's original thought had been cycle round Waiheke Island but bike hire booking was broken and got no reply to email. Since I had been recommended it by several people swapped for Rangitoto Island and I am so glad I did not miss out on this place, amazing

There's a beach area called the Esplanade in Oneroa, Waiheke Island, NZ. I go there every time I'm in Auckland to see the bar-tailed godwits in their southern home. They're beautiful birds, small and delicate — hard to believe they're tough enough to make that journey, isn't it?

“Waiheke Island always is expensive because it’s just the nature of the freight cost to get the fuel across there,” Collins said.

BS. It’s around 10-12cpl. Not $1
Fuel prices rise sharply - with 91 reaching $4.15 on this island
Kiwis are facing sharply higher pump prices, with petrol and diesel climbing by about 50 cents a litre in less than a month.

Saw Colin James CNZM heading in the direction of Paper Plus this morning. Where I had just been. Nicky Hager's book missed the Auckland - Waiheke ferry last night, so we'll just have to wait until this afternoon

National is definitely alienating its business base with this policy. I can tell, because I went along to the launch party for my supermarket owning mate’s brand new Waiheke helipad outside his second-favorite mansion, and he didn’t smile once

You can see the vested corporate interests are rallying NZME to launch attacks on National regarding Foodstuffs

Which leaves the Greens and Labour's policy to sail through rather unopposed right now

This is so infuriating. I chaired the Waiheke Special Needs Trust for about 5 years when we lived on the island. These decisions are being made the wrong way round. OF COURSE it costs more to provide services in rural areas. The question is what services people have a right to, as citizens

So the government is no longer supporting services for the disabled on Waiheke. Kāinga Ora has not invested on Waiheke for over 30 years. The island had 15 state-owned homes - one block of 14 one-bedroom units and this one, Melanna House.

Melanna House has been closed for a year and Kainga Ora has confirmed it will sell the house after it failed to find another provider to run the disability respite care service.
