1916. Anstis Works 2-8-0 'Valencia', leaves its right of way after being struck down by a traction engine near Waiteside Castle.
Being rented to the railway rather than sold to, the L&P quickly got rid of the engine, and it would end up being sent overseas. It's future unknown

Waiteside Castle was soon demoted from a passing point to a through-station. The old loop was turned into storage sidings.

The 1970s were a colourful time on the L&PR, as seemingly all the engines were getting different coats of paint to counter their historic liveries.

Market Day (Thursday) brings in many people through the valley to Waiteside Town

'Bowen Cooke' passes through the farmlands north of town. The crew will have to enter slowly to avoid crowds. A farmer has already escaped home.

No.3 'BIA' was used for shunting and odd-jobs that it wasn't worth steaming the other two up for.
She was photographed climbing Waiteside Bank with the rarely-used Cattle wagon, bringing a farmer his new cattle and food for them.

The relaying of the line from Tramway conditions to proper railway conditions was ironically conducted by horses for the first few months, then Traction Engines, then steam engines.

'Redcap' ran her very first run with a coal wagon when on the L&PR. Her first season was run with the tender from No.2 'Bowen Cooke' as its regular engine was out for repairs.
It was only in '64 did she get a new tender built to a near-identical design of her old one.

Been another year where I've not made a single TTTE piece of rolling stock, but I have stuck with doing some TTTE buildings.

Most of my focus this year has been L&PR/Anstis Works related. Captions added to show what is and isn't this year's work.

The horse worked tramway followed the same route as the current line from Portethwaite to Waiteside Castle, just outside the forest.
