The Home Office ran an amnesty campaign for 'ninja swords', so I surrendered my katana, wakizashi and tanto.
Just had a call from a plod who's told me that (and I still can't quite believe this) that only the wakizashi meets the length requirement for the campaign so I can have the others back.

J’avais déjà parlé du wakizashi, et de son port autorisé contrairement au sabre long. Certains s’amusèrent donc à déguiser d’autres armes dans une monture (poignée et fourreau) de wakizashi. C’est le cas de ces wakizashi-teppō, qui sont donc des armes à feu dissimulées apparaissant milieu XIXe.
