For #Woodensday, the very fine C14 tithe barn at Lacock, largely intact.

Originally part of Lacock Abbey, founded c 1230 by Ela, Countess of Salisbury, as an Augustinian nunnery.

Interior of a medieval barn with solidly executed roof structure, mostly original. Historic England's description is here: the interior of the barn is divided into eight bays by the roof structure of raised cruck trusses with arch-braced collars, the crucks supported on dressed stone blocks. There are two purlins on each pitch, with windbraces between the lower purlins and the wallplates. The east wing has two raised cruck trusses with arch-braced collars and windbraces, and one purlin to each pitch. The wing has iron rods at tie-beam level. Some of the timbers have carpenter's marks, and some have apotropaic protection symbols. The floor of the barn is of beaten earth.

Following up on this, since I've had no luck so far: is there a way/product that will let me trace (unpowered, obviously) GFCI outlets through the walls without removing the wallplates and working with exposed wires?

If you don't have one, get one!

I had 4 wallplates of power receptacles used up for 9 devices in my Art Room, and now I use 1 outlet on 1 wallplate, which of course is where the unit is plugged into.

I unplug my laptops/drawing pad when I'm not using them; now I just have to unplug the new unit.

Old coax (RG59) does have greater attenuation than more “modern” RG6, but isn’t an automatic roadblock to a working MoCA setup. Often the issue is just MoCA-hostile connecting components (old splitters, amps, ancient barrel connectors or coax wallplates, or poorly terminated cabling.

Definitely start with getting a low voltage electrician quote on the Cat6/6a installation, presuming the quote is free. Good to have that $ figure as a point of comparison against the expense of MoCA adapters.

Also open all non-power wallplates (blank, coax, phone) to check available cabling/type.

Unfortunate build date (1996). Only a few years later, installers were commonly using Cat5/5e for phone line installs, just because it was easier & cheaper to have a single cable type to lug about.
