The pre-Reformation tradition of the “parish ale” will be celebrated in Wantage on 9 May. A festival organised by the church with specially brewed beer, parish ales were once common in Oxfordshire. This year’s Wantage event will feature ‘Discipale’, specially brewed by nearby Indigenous Brewery.

The 50-year old Wantage Leisure Centre has replaced its end-of-life gas boilers with air source heat pump units and solar panels. Along with the addition of triple glazing, replacing and insulating the roof, carbon emissions are forecast to reduce by over 25%.

The Church of St Peter and St Paul at Wantage in Oxfordshire. The church and tower date to the C13th with some C15th additions, including an extended chancel. The Church was restored during the C19th. 📸 My own. #SteepleSaturday #Medieval #Oxfordshire
