#WatReg: If you haven't voted yet, please go read the school trustee section of @dtkmelissa.bsky.social's election guide. It's possible that a number of far right candidates get elected and this will suggest better candidates and who to avoid.

Kitchener Mayor and Ward 9 are looking like as big of a landslide for the incumbents as expected (I voted for neither).

Regional council also looks like the four incumbents so far (I voted for 2 of those 4, my other 2 are in 5th and 6th place, and the other I seriously considered is 7th).

School board trustees had no incumbent advantage so I really had no idea what to expect, but so far 3 of my 4 are in, and my other is in 5th.

Any Kitchener voters want to make a case for who should be my fourth regional councillor vote?

My clear top three are Matt Rodrigues, Colleen James, and Simon Guthrie. Those three are safe (barring some late-breaking fact-checked scandal).

🧵 After having been in the weeds in #WatReg elections for the past 2 months, here's who I'd vote for if lived in various wards/cities.

Waterloo to start off:

Mayor: Jeyas Balaskanthan (was it ever in doubt?)

Waterloo regional councillor: Chantal Huinink

Ward 7: Julie Wright

Election day is tomorrow, #WatReg. In Waterloo I'm going to be voting Jeyas for mayor, because I think we deserve a vision for the city that's positive, forward looking, and responsive to the needs of our residents. Regardless of your choice, I just hope you get out and vote. It matters.
Building Waterloo Up
Jeyas loves Waterloo. Waterloo has all the ingredients to be the best place to live in Canada. To help Waterloo reach its full potential, we need to become a city that says “yes, and” instead of “no, ...

In both community-led and Region-led consultations, #LandBack for an Indigenous Community Hub was identified as one of the top priorities that residents want to see at the former Charles St Transit Terminal.

As our city grows by welcoming new neighbours into existing neighbourhoods, we must plan for new parks and public spaces. This physical infrastructure is the bridge necessary to build trust and civic participation.

Last call for lawn signs! I may or may not be delivering them by bike :)

As we wrap up advance voting, we’re shifting our focus to election day on Monday October 26! Getting a window or lawn sign is a great way to show your support.

Today, I was out canvassing for David Alton for Kitchener mayor & Anna Meksavanh for Region Councillor. Usually it’s the younger folks who are apathetic but I found on today’s route the older folks were the ones saying they wouldn’t bother. They definitely felt defeated. #WRpoli #WatReg

Thank you and merci to Cathy Kenne, Executive Director of Familles Afro FrancoFun. This organization provides much-needed spaces for afro-francophone newcomer youth to strengthen their language and culture while developing practical skills. #kitchener #watreg #wrpoli

In Kitchener "a total of 5,347 voters cast ballots during the first three days of advance voting in 2026, compared to 3,973 voters during the same period in 2022, representing an increase of approximately 35 per cent." Keep it up #WatReg! #VoteWR2026 www.kitchener.ca/news/posts/s...

As a long-time community organizer, I pride myself on collaborating effectively across groups that don’t typically work together. I’ll be an effective representative for Ward 10, translating city processes into meaningful action.

We're celebrating another campaign milestone... we've reached 10,000 homes in Ward 10 over the course of this election! Wow! I want to give a huge thank you to my volunteer team. This is how we strengthen local democracy: by showing up and having one conversation at a time. #kitchener #watreg

Ben Gorodetsky’s Pinch Arts has contributed to much to this region’s cultural fabric. Many emerging artists have found their first paid gigs thanks to Ben. He understands world-class performance and how to fund it, and I’m grateful for all he has created to enrich our region. #Kitchener #WatReg

Any #Kitchener people got any insights about municipal election candidates they feel like sharing?

I have a slight leaning for mayor and city council, and can probably narrow down regional council options to picking 4 out of 5. I have not looked at English public school board trustees.

Cait Glasson is a force to be reckoned with, having helped create the first Pride event in Kitchener in 1995. I’m grateful for her past and ongoing leadership in establishing safe gathering spaces within Waterloo Region for the queer community. Thank you for believing in me! #Kitchener #WatReg
