Here on Kulin Country Wattle Day has always lagged bizarrely behind the actual #WattleSeason which kicks off as early as May & peaks in August

I went wattling at Wattle Park on my birthday a couple of weeks ago, absolutely losing my mind at the amazing display

I have learned more Kulin language in #WattleSeason. Wattle generically is garron in Bunurong, &:

Garrong: black wattle (Acacia mearnsii)
Muryan: silver wattle (A. dealbata) – compare with the Woiwurrung word muyan
Warra’woorap: green wattle (A. decurrens)
Burna’look: blackwood (A. melanoxylon)
