Okay, I was slightly wrong. FM synthesis is done *per* wavecycle instead of being an effect done per note. The difference is the scale—vibrato is "macro-scale" while FM is "micro-scale".
In other news, foobar's VB plugin does not accurately reproduce the VSU's FM modulation 😖

Wait a fricking second. So FM synthesis is basically just the same thing as applying a looping frequency macro? I thought this was some highbrow technique, but you can *technically* just do this on any old system. All this talk about carrier waves and modulation and you can just do this in software.

We are also fans of wavecycle transformations and pulsar synthesis. Just sayin.
“Is there a technology the left is excited about?”
Yes. Granular synthesis

Week 4: Wave Cycle
-----------
This took a while to do as I originally overcomplicated things so I restarted from the beginning.

Week 3: Wave Cycle
----------
This week we learnt the wave cycle. I wasn't in class for this so I had to catch up outside of class.

me: takes a wavecycle and repeats it based on the multiplier. On each repetition the wavecycle is morphed slightly so that it morphs into the shape of the next. this adds a modulatory quality to the output, successive wavecycles bends as they flow into one another
