one of the more 'deep magic' parts of electronics i have encountered is "actually, we don't send the current down the copper, that would be a disaster"

instead, they use the wire as a waveguide, and get terabit speeds out of it

my fav 'deep magic' stuff is rf engineering and someone saying the middle of three core wire could be used as a waveguide

Didn’t realize the waveguide lens used in rayban display glasses were so sophisticated

Pretty cool piece of technology

Reading about the Ascilab C6B, from a newer South Korean company and all the speaker review guys say it’s the new sub $1,000 (before shipping) passive speaker king. It’s totally sold out through July. Apparently the waveguide comes in a bunch of colors.

WR1 being a standard waveguide size is kinda hilarious because it looks like a joke

Oh that poor section of waveguide, no idea how long it's been sitting out there in the elements like that.

Researchers at @tuwien.at proposed a more efficient and reliable method for transferring #quantum information between qubits with photons.

The new work leverages a dispersion-engineered waveguide that reshapes the photon pulse into its time-reversed counterpart. https://bit.ly/4yNVkkA 💡 ⚛️

In Test Bench, Vance Dickason measures the new Purifi Audio PTT1.3T04-HAG-01 WG104 1.3” tweeter with its 104mm waveguide. And then characterizes the HF148 horn flare for the B&C Speakers ME148 Line Array Waveguide and DCX354 coax compression driver.

A parabolic dish and a waveguide-fed magnetron is the perfect solution for that neighbor who won’t turn off their car’s amp and likes to rattle your walls from their driveway.

this is litterally just 2 delays on a saw wave!
crossfeeding each others, with a bit of filtering and fm

ngl even the most basic waveguide setups are nuts!!

this is one of the reasons my post only talks about "using the gap between copper wires as a waveguide" rather than the notion that this would work over existing infrastructure yes

like there's a 2d acoustic waveguide 700 feet under the ocean that spans the entire globe and distributes low frequency sounds over thousands of miles and whales use it as a chat line, fuckin' a
there's probably something meaningful about the fact that for the past week and a half or so I've only been interested in learning about things that happen deep under the ocean. anyhow the SOFAR channel: cool as hell!
