The low cold light of autumn shines gently on the beauty of Waxwings.

I rarely see cedar waxwings, so I take what I can get. This is my favorite from today but not my sharpest.

Bumped into the Waxwings in Snettisham again this afternoon. I was some distance from where I spotted them yesterday, so most unexpected #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds

Cedar Waxwings are the loveliest of birds. ❤️
This is a wonderful shot.

I just heard then saw a flock of cedar waxwings fly overhead so it's definitely feeling like late fall

Waxwings at Snettisham this evening. First ones I've seen since 2023. Hopefully a sign that it's going to be a good year for them #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds

Please don't cut back shrubs and hedgerows until wildlife has taken all the autumn berries! Hawthorn alone, for example, is a fantastic source of food for birds - including blackbirds, thrushes, redwings, fieldfares and, when the weather is really cold, waxwings 🌿

Nice to find Norwich’s first three Waxwings of the winter in a classic spot today. Hopefully many more to come.

Neat morning out in the easterlies. A garden Firecrest to start then six Woodcocks, a Mealy Redpoll grounded by a squall (should’ve been Coue’s) & a Great Northern Diver (should’ve been White-billed) at Happisburgh, finishing up with a trio of Waxwings close to where I was collecting our daughter.

I'd probably get more photos of cedar waxwings if I could hear them. Alas, their calls are in a range I can't catch. Nice shot!

There are Waxwings in East Anglia now, not sure we'll get the irruption we had at the end of 2023, but who knows? Here's one I snapped snaffling rowan berries not far from our village at the end of that year #UKBirding

You can see the red feathers that look like they've been dipped in sealing wax
