I'm old enough that my brain still associates the letters WCAU with CBS. Partly because I don't remember NBC10 ever using the call letters. I guess that's because before the switch they weren't owned by CBS, but after the switch they were owned by NBC.

Back in the early ‘70’s, I became a huge Phillies fan for a few years from the nighttime WCAU broadcasts with Saam/Kalas/Ashburn. Tasty Kake & Schmidt’s beer sponsors. They had some good & great future HOF players, but The Man was #32 Carlton. 27 wins on a last place team.

The recording comes to us from WCAU (NBC10) in Philadelphia and has all ad breaks intact.

Later on, Fox outbid CBS for NFL
broadcasting rights, which led to an entire chain reaction of TV stations changing network affiliations.

Philadelphia saw NBC and CBS swap KYW and WCAU, while in Baltimore, WBAL moved from CBS to NBC (it had previously been an NBC affiliate until 1981), (cont.)

If you’ve watched Inside Edition, you’ve heard the distinctive voice of Steve Kamer. Kamer grew up here, got his big break in LA at KHTZ, before moving back here when he became a full time voiceover guy.

He’s the voiceover at WCAU NBC 10, and his “COUNT ON IT” delivery is now embedded in my skull

I think in this way Trump is urging Carr to want to "examine" the licensure of NBC's O&Os (such stations include WNBC New York, WCAU Philadelphia, KNBC Los Angeles, WMAQ Chicago--big-market stations).

All because he's a thin-skinned whiny piss baby because someone said his shite actually stinks.

Philadelphia DA Krasner Says He’ll Keep White House Ballroom Fragment as Paperweight After Demolition
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner declared Tuesday that he intends to preserve a fragment of the White House ballroom as a desk paperweight following its eventual destruction. Speaking at a historic Philadelphia site, Krasner told the audience that within 10 to 15 years, he would possess the memento from the razed structure, according to video obtained by WCAU. Krasner's remarks came during remarks at George Washington's Philadelphia residence on the occasion of the city's annual slavery commemoration event.

re: Paley's last CBS shareholder meeting in 1990: "Dismembered and stripped to bottom-line efficiency...CBS seemed to be someone else's creation. One day in Aug 1988, w/o alerting listeners or staff, [it] even shut down WCAU in Philadelphia, the...station where CBS began in 1927." (p. 607)

addendum: and I love that they released a special radio-only edit that removed the announcer’s voice in the middle, so that radio stations could have their own DJs dub in their own custom message there.

Our local Hot Hits station back then, 98 WCAU-FM took full advantage of it.

I miss 80s radio.

Our local Hot Hits station, 98 WCAU-FM was always pumpin’ wild tunes, the DJs always sounded like they were having a great time spinning ‘em, and the commercials were few and far between.

I was always a little annoyed that the version of She-Bop on my walkman cassette back then wasn’t the same version they played on the Hot Hits radio station. (98 WCAU-FM!)

Uptown Girl. I was an 80s teen. It's one I remember being on repeat on 98-NOW WCAU-FM, out of Philly. That was the soundtrack to my teen years.

KYW, WPVI, WCAU and WTXF are all owned by their respective networks, rather than Nexstar or Sinclair or whoever.
February 1, 2025 at 1:17 AM
And also how CBS-owned WCAU went to NBC (although, it was a trade, CBS getting several smaller NBC O&O's and a antenna as well as the Ch 4 position in Miami for NBC gaining WCAU)

KCNC (one of the stations affected by the trade) has the best play by play.

WPVI knows #Jeopardy is super important, especially this last ToC semifinal. Unlike KYW and WCAU (CBS & NBC), not showing Eagles Super Bowl stuff.
