Panther Westwinds made its name in the 1970s making retro-style cars in the UK, the biggest-selling of which was the Lima. A small fibreglass roadster, it used the 2300cc mechanicals of the Vauxhall Magnum. At a time when open-top cars seemed like a dying breed, it sold in fair numbers. #weirdcarbs🧵

By 1980 Panther Westwinds was struggling and the company passed into South Korean hands. Under the management of Jindo Industries the Lima was extensively re-engineered and relaunched in 1982 as the Panther Kallista, initially with Ford 1.6 and 2.8 power.

Calm before the storm for a day or so big wind coming in Monday night, so we’re hiding out behind Little Farmer’s Cay. There is very little protection from Westwinds here they’ll last about nine hours, but it might still get pretty nasty.

About half way through this little nugget. I enjoy finding western bios about folks I’ve never heard of, and when they reign from Colorado, then it’s even more fun to map out their doings. These can be a bit choppy, but Springs weaves in local happenings of the time for an enjoyable read. (1967)
