When visitors first step into the Train Shed, they are awed by the size of the Weyerhaeuser locomotive and often wonder aloud, "How did they get those IN here?" It can be hard to see past the rolling stock, but the answer is quite simple: REALLY BIG DOORS!

Today's forestry pics (not featuring trees). Weyerhaeuser, Wisconsin, founded in 1884, is named after the timber baron Fredrick Weyerhaeuser. He made his fortune in the area before moving on to the Pacific Northwest.

As of today I have been in The Building. The bonsai museum was having a fundraising event inside and my brother, saint that he is, (and also obsessed with the building) got us tickets. And I took a lot of pictures for anyone else who has felt Weyerhaeuser-building lust.

For Throwback Thursday, let's go back to May 18, 1990 — the tenth anniversary of the eruption — and to the commercial Weyerhaeuser produced to mark that milestone.

I would be interested in a statement from Weyerhaeuser.

The ink’s dry, so I’m incredibly happy and honored to share that my book, The North Woods: An Environmental History, is officially under contract with the @uwapress.uw.edu in their Weyerhaeuser Environmental Books series! Super excited to be working with @brdemuth.bsky.social as series editor!
