A black and white photograph of a woman wearing patterned clothing, including a long-sleeved shirt with small floral designs. She has on a wide-brimmed hat adorned with large fabric flowers that drape over her shoulders, partially obscuring her face as she looks downwards. Her expression is contemplative or perhaps concerned. The background appears to be the siding of a house; there are no other people visible in this image. There's additional context provided indicating the photograph was taken by Dorothea Lange and features a native North Carolinian wearing sunbonnet style clothing, which suggests it may have been part of an exploration or documentation project on rural life.
