One is golly gee whizzbang UTTERLY UNEXAMINED 1950s sci-fi Bold White Men of the Future dreams that they have money to fuel now. The same stuff that gets Musk cash. Be thankful it requires competence & talent to execute.

Due to a series of hiccups with my screening for SF Film class today, we ended up watching Gravity (Alfonso Cuarón, 2013) instead of film I planned. It is a masterful piece of 21st C. sf filmmaking; somehow combining the whizzbang of the Transformer films with the renewed interest in the long-take.

i once wrote a novel that was a flash gordon pastiche and I am still incredibly proud of two things
1) the elaborate and extremely Po Faced joke that is that the language and writing style is 1950s whizzbang space opera, but the actual sci-fi mechanics were all PAINFULLY realistic.
