I often wonder how so much #willowpattern ended up in gardens - there was loads at my parents 1902 house as well. I wonder if when damaged it got broken up and dug into vegetable patches to help drainage in heavy soil.

A but of #gardenarchaeology today whilst painting the fence. In a two foot length of border I found a whole load of willowpattern, plus some glass, a couple of other earthenware fragments, and a couple of pieces of clay pipe. House was built in 1895.

#Beachcombing just some #willowpattern - a real old reliable find for sea pottery.
A roughly triangular shard of sea worn pottery with a blue and white transfer pattern. It rests on large angular pebbles including crystal like schist and an upturned sea snail shell in pale pink.
