Whimbrel on Torrey Pines State Beach. Often flocking with Long-billed Curlew, one of which shows up on the right in photo 3. Look how dainty is the tiny bill of the whimbrel!

Loved all those, particularly the Frigatebird with the fish. Though I also loved the framing on the Wimbrel.

Very extravagant Ramalina fastigiata on Rowan. Sorbus aucuparia. RSPB Pagham Harbour. I am on a ranger shift, engaging with the public on conservation (and climate change)! I should be talking about birds, so here’s a Wimbrel; a passage migrant stopping off on the way back to Africa

Meet Oddur and Lárus, an Arctic puffin and Eurasian wimbrel. They're friends.

Two fave views: from the top of the Stockyards parkade, looking over the west end of the city; and, from Wimbrel Pt at the tip of Samuel Smith Park, looking across the water

I miss TO

So far on inaturalist one person agrees it's a wimbrel and one person thinks it's a curlew so we may never know lol.
OK hold up a darned minute there. I looked at this and thought Curlew. But then I looked again and... isn't his beak too short? Is that a Wimbrel? Wish I focused better so we could see the head (I was working on that a lot today, my hands aren't very steady).
